Touching Lives After the Destruction

We are proud to be University of Alabama graduates as well as calling Alabama home. As many know, on April 27 more than 49 tornadoes ripped through the state of Alabama and took the lives of 249 people with 5 still missing in Tuscaloosa County. Among those, one monster twister set down just a few blocks from the campus of the University. The destruction left behind in that 30 miles in Tuscaloosa County and the 47 other counties hit by the storms wrath will take many years to heal. The University of Alabama's television campaign notes that UA touches lives. If you feel the pull to touch the lives of so many tornado survivors, a few reputable starting places are: West Alabama Chapter of the American Red Cross http://www.alredcross.org/general.asp?SN=8618&OP=8658&SUOP=8666&IDCapitulo=DRGYJ0Q5XZ The Humane Society of West Alabama www.humanesocietyofwa.org/ The Salvation Army, whose headquarters were destroyed during the tornado in Tuscaloosa, asks those who want to help to visit www.disaster.salvationarmyusa.org, text “GIVE” to 80888 for a $10 donation given from your cell phone or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY (1-800-725-2769) and designate their gift "April 2011 Tornado Outbreak." The West Alabama Food Bank www.westalabamafoodbank.org St. Andrews Church Tornado Relief Fund Tuscaloosa has received much of the TV media attention, but North Alabama was one of many areas hit incredibly hard, including the Madison County community of Harvest. www.standrewshsv.com/STA/Tornado_Relief.html Thank you from the bottom of my heart and Roll, Tide Roll!!!!
